How to Ensure Your Group Fishing Trip Goes Smoothly

I have been organizing an annual fishing trip for my buddies and I for around 6 years now and each year is better than the one before it. This year we are looking at some Miami yacht charters listings to see if we can’t up the ante a little from previous years, a feat that will definitely be difficult.

As much as I love these fishing trips, organizing them does take quite a lot of work and in the first few years I made many mistakes. After such experience in organizing these things, I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to ensure that you organize a trip that everyone enjoys and nobody forgets.

Keep it Democratic

If you simply choose the destination and then tell everyone where they are going, you will run into all kinds of complaints from your friends. This is something that I did for the first two years and I frankly got sick of the moaning. In order to avoid this then, the best option is to put together 3 different options in 3 different destinations and then take it to the vote amongst your friends. Once you ahem reached a conclusive decision there can no longer be any moaning and groaning and it will save you a great deal of earache.

Deal With Simplicity

As the organizer of the trip, your only responsibilities are to book the accommodation, the flights or transport, the fishing trip itself and absolutely nothing else. Once you start organizing equipment rental and the like, you are treading into dangerous waters that can leave you open. In order to avoid problems, the best thing to do is stick to these things only and leave the worries about baggage and equipment to the people going on the trip. Just because you are organizing it does not mean that you need to be on hand for every minor problem that goes wrong. Keep it simple, focus on the big events and leave the details to those who are going on the trip.

Put Your Money Down

Three years ago I lost $700 because two people backed out of our US trip at the last minute and I was too foolish to get them to put their money up front. Trust is an interesting thing amongst friends, especially when it comes to money and I would strongly advise you not to pay for anything until you have received some money first. Anyone could back out for any number of reasons and there is nothing wrong with that, as long as you have their money first, there is no reason that you or anyone else should have to pay for someone else’s problems. It may be tempting to put it all on you credit card, but for security sake, I would urge you to think again about this idea.

You will learn more from experience like I have but the best advice is to keep things simple and don’t get overly involved.

Working Around The World, What Could You Do

For many people who want to travel the world, they feel as though they are stuck at home because of their job. Thankfully we live in a world where we are more connected than we have ever been and that gives us the chance to take that job and find it somewhere else on the planet. Taking the skills that you have to another country can greatly help you to realize your dreams of traveling the world, and it will also help those that you have decided to work with. Even if you don’t have a job but you need to find one abroad in order to travel, here are some ideas for you.

Nursing

Nursing is a highly desirable profession around the world and if you have the skills, you can find travel nursing jobs with absolute ease. The reason for the appeal of nurses that were trained in the United States is twofold, firstly because there is a great lack of nurses in many countries around the world, and secondly because the US is considered a privileged place to train as a medical professional and there are many who want to learn from these skills. No matter if you attend a nursing school in Philadelphia , Los Angeles, or Honolulu, the training you receive in American based nursing programs is looked at favorably by employers worldwide

Bar Work

If you are just looking to travel around the world, hopping from country to country, you should look at something temporary such as bar work. There are bars all over the world, staff turnover is usually pretty high and you do not need too many skills to get a job there.

Volunteering

If you want to do some good in the world whilst you travel through, why not look into the possibility of volunteering with a charity. Regardless of what your passion is, there are charities all over the world that you could help from conservation projects to feeding the hungry, animal rights work and regeneration projects. The key is to work out what it is you want to do and then identify if it falls in line with where in the world you wish to go.

Teaching

Teaching english is something that many young people find to be the best way of living their travel dreams and doing something good at the same time. Because of the ways in which education works in some countries such as Thailand and Vietnam, you can teach with only a basic qualification and you won’t need to study very long at all. Not only will you be able to travel the world but you can help to educate a great many young students.

Vineyards

The vineyards of Europe and South America in particular have become very popular in recent years for gap year students and travelers. Vineyards are very much seasonal and this plays perfectly into the hands of anyone who is looking to travel but does not want to be stuck down to a job for the rest of their life. If you are interested in this then be sure to check online for when the vineyards are in their working seasons.

Want to Get Traveling? Here’s How

The idea of traveling around the world, meeting new people, being introduced to new cultures and ways of life is something that appeals to many. The difference however between those who say that they like to travel, and those who actually do is vast and ether are only a certain number of people who actually take the plunge and get out there to see the world. Studying Abroad

If you are currently studying or would like to pick up some more education, you can do just that and travel at the same time by entering into education in another country. You could study abroad in New Zealand, Mexico, Norway or Algeria, wherever you choose. Many universities around the world are involved in a community and this means that you can transfer your home studies abroad if you so wish as well. What better way to see a new country that to involve yourself in their education?

Backpacking

Whilst you may be able to see a little bit of a new country with a 2 week beach vacation, there is nothing that quite compares to strapping on a backpack and heading off to see the real country. In order to go backpacking you may need to save up quite a bit of money so that you can pay for all of your travel and your adventures but in terms of a life experience, it doesn’t get much better. When backpacking you will see a side to the country which few will be able to, you can integrate with the culture and the way of life and you can meet some incredible people as you wander along the road.

Working

If you really have a desire to travel then why not take a job in another country, the internet has made this easier than ever before. When you work in another country you are forced into respecting their customs and their way of life and it is the perfect way to truly get to know the locals. Regardless of what your skill set is, there are always ways of finding a job in another country and it could be the bets experience of your life.

Volunteering

There are many international charities that need your help and you could not only travel the world with them, but be able to give something back in the process. Whatever it is that you want to do by way of volunteering, there are options available to you from helping marine life in Norway, feeding the hungry in Africa or teaching English in China. The world is your oyster if you wish to volunteer and you can spend your time doing good and seeing new things.

How to Lower Your Child’s Temperature in the Burning Sunshine

As someone who spent much of their life in New York, Arizona really shocked my system when I moved here a few years ago. I was warned about the heat by neighbour Hans Eckhardt Tucson resident for many more years than myself, but I didn’t quite believe it until I experienced my very first summer. The heat was blistering and both my wife and I were really struggling.

As bad as the heat is for adults over here in Arizona, it was the kids that we were most worried about and each summer we dedicate a great deal of time trying to protect the kids. There are a worrying amount of kids sent to hospital each year in Tucson because of heat related issues and I will not be accused of being a father who didn’t do his best to prevent death or serious health issues for my kids, as a result of the Tucson heat. Keeping your child cool all day can be tough but I have found some great ways to cool them down when they do get too hot. If you are taking your kids to a hot country this year, here is how to bring down their temperature.

Go For a Splash

One of the best ways that I have found to quickly reduce a child’s temperature is to let them have a splash about in some cold or lukewarm water. We have a paddling pool in the back yard and above it we have an awning to offer a bit of protection from the sun’s rays and this makes the perfect place to cool the kids down. If you don’t have a paddling pool then simply dip your kids in the bath to help them feel a little cooler. Be careful with swimming pools as often the water is warm and they are exposed to direct sunlight.

Mini-Fan

One of the best items that I have bought for my kids is those battery operated mini-fans and the kids actually look at this as more of a toy than anything else. Because of this, my kids are always using their fans and as a result, keeping themselves cool.

Fluids

Throughout the summer months I will avidly check my kids’ temperatures each hour and one thing that I hadn’t realised was the power of fluids to bring down their core temperature. I knew that my kids should be taking on water to stave off dehydration but I didn’t realise how quickly a cold drink could reduce their temperature. I you have kids who are going to be spending time in a hot place, make sure that you are giving them plenty of fluids and plenty of cold drinks so that they can stay fully hydrated and cool at the same time.

Make sure that you are on the front foot with your kids’ temperatures as the can rise very quickly and cause problems before you know it.
