Have you ever thought of doing a cycling trip in Australia? When we make plans to tour a place, we usually opt for guided, shuttle tours or road trips but never cycling trips. In fact, pretty sure that when “cycling trip” was mentioned, you thought of the French countryside or the old European cities with all its hills and pavements. But Australia has some awesome cycling trails that you can traverse on your visit there.

You can visit breweries, oceans, and mountains, sometimes in just one trail! We really cannot expect anything less from a country known for exciting activities. Before you get packing and finalising documents like travel insurance to Australia, look this rundown of trails you can use for your Australia cycling trip.

Murray to the Mountains Rail Trail

The best thing about this trail is the food you can enjoy along the way. You are already on a bike, you might as well gain and lose a couple of pounds during the ride, right? This trail goes from Wangaratta to Bright, which is approximately 90 kilometers. But do not worry, because there are trails within that trail which you can branch out to like the Milawa Gourmet Region. Obviously, you do not need to finish this trail in one day, you can have overnight stop in place like Beechworth.

Victoria’s High Country Brewery Trail

Victoria’s High Country Brewery Trail offers the best scenic cycling experience. It goes to Glenrowan, Beechworth, Warby Range, to Mt. Beauty and it passes through four local breweries. Imagine that, four local craft breweries in one trail, and the best part is this trail is made so that cyclists can visit all of them. They even prepared a booklet on mountain bike rides that you can take while crossing their trail.

Tasmania trail

Expect hills and beaches when you go on this trail. It starts from Launceston and through the coast of St. Helens. That whole stretch is filled with beautiful beaches, you might want to stop at a few to take a dip. Then you will reach Hobart, a city that has an old-world glamour with a mix of the modern vibe. But if you can, though, complete the whole Tasmanian coast, it really is a beautiful state. Obviously, this is a multi-day cycle so make sure you can secure accommodations along the way.

MundaBiddi Trail

If you want to camp at any point during the cycle tour, you can traverse the MundaBiddi Trail. It is a 1000-kilometre cycle outside of Perth to Albany. It is mostly off-road, but the course is not difficult to finish. There are campsites in between the whole trail, complete with bike storage and sleeping shelters. You will get to pass through forests around Pemberton and the coastline from Denmark to Albany.

These are just some of the Australian trails you and your travel companions can try on your trip. Make sure all the necessities are packed, your travel documents are ready, and that you have a sturdy, trusty bike you can use to take on any of these trails. Enjoy!
